I'd say that's about time. Some recommend a yearly change at most (if it's affordable), while other recommend changing fuel filters at everu tune-up (ie. when you change spark plugs). i think every 2yrs is fine, especially with the higher octane that Singaporeans use.
I think that's a typo. I found the same thing for $27.50 on another site. There's no way that the fuel filter costs more than the fuel pump ($181). Could it be that the metal housing and filter pictured at the Toyotaguys.com website is $310? Do some snooping around. It might be possible that the fuel filter assembly comes in two parts: plastic filter and metal housing.
Dood. Just called the local dealership. Fuel filter for a 99 Camry is about CDN$50. It comes in one piece (the black unit that you see). They don't recommend replacing it unless you have a problem that requires doing so. Only God knows what toyotaguys.com is selling for $310!!
well to releve the fule pressure just pull the fuse for the fuel pump and start the car it will quickly drop the pressure or let it sit over night. oh how about this for a fuel filter 70,000 MILES STOCK FILTER.
bah, relieve pressure by taking off the hose on the top, just put a rag between you and the filter so you don't get fuel in your eyes, there isn't all that much pressure, so what you'll loose like 100ml of gas
with an old fuel filter you're just putting more wear and tear on your fuel pump, it has to work harder to push fuel through all the crap blocking your fuel filter, think about it, fuel filter 20$ fuel pump 350$ and its a pretty advanced diy'er project
@ 64K mi., I have yet to change the fuel filter. Hope my car doesn't blow up as dealers would like for me to think.
I have a 1994 with 127,000KM on the stock fuel filter... when I asked them at toyota about changing it he said the same thing "don't change it unless you have problems"
I still have stock plug wires and Toyota is asking $180 for new ones!!!! Anyone know were you can get aftermaket wires for the I4?
guessing your in canada. i think canadian tire has them or any other discount auto part store. it been a while since i had to buy parts in canada so i cant help ya too much there. i changed mine sunday after 85,000 miles on the stock and the gas running out of the old one was black seriously black. now i just have to take it back to have them fix the bolts they striped and change the timing belt and it be good as new.
I replaced the original a while ago at 57000mi. It didn't seem to improve anything and I lost a lot of fuel while doing so. Not to mention that it the nuts were really rusted and stubborn.. so it took quite a beating to take it off in my case.
