3rd Generation roughg idle and missing

before u bash me for posting i couldnt find any threads to help me out.

i have a 92 cam with the 5sfe and a 5 speed. my car suddenly started to idle at 250-500 rpm and sometimes when i try and accelerate it kills unless i let off. i also noticed that my fuel comming out of my filter is black! and my engine bucks so much i have already replaced my front motor mount twice. 2nd time it broke egr valve was smacking the firewall and cut a vaccum line in half (replaced line) but motor still runs like crap any help is much appreciated.

u might search "seafoam" for the seafoam treatment...i know that has helped my idle/running a pretty noticeable amount...also try the "throttle body cleaner" thread too...

Is your 92 equipped with an EGR valve ?

Bad EGR valves makes for a rough idle.

Daniel.

black fuel?

change the filter? also there another 2 filters in the tank you might want to look at. a mesh for the pick up an another for the fuel return. also look at IACV cleaning.

Check the inside of the rotor/ distributor for worn out points. check for bad plugs, air filter and clean/check IAC motor.

There's no such thing as an IAC motor (idle air control valve... motor )
although you hit money with stating check the IAC.

Spray some throttlebody cleaner on the IAC valve, check your ignition timing and spark plugs. Changing your air and fuel filters would be beneficial.

checking and replacing that little PCV valve will also be beneficial...usually that's one of things that are left forgotten.

That's what i wanted to mean , isn't there a way to test that idle air control by bridging two connection on the diagnostics port? i think it says in thye Haynes manual.

The IAC valve may let your car run 'smoother' but it shouldn't make it buck or anything. An afterthought on this would be if it's doing it only when driving, it's likely the simple answer: the clutch
