Canada Help! What's wrong with my Camry?

Not a few days after Oil changed, It seems that my '90 Camry is not as 'quiet' as before:

1. That not 'quiet' most likely not 'smooth'. When it's in P shift, I can feel it keeps 'shaking'. This has not happened before. Occasionally, I can feel 1 or 2 time 'quake'.

2. When I'm continually accelerating from 0 to 50 km/h, It shakes heavily and more noisy than before.

3. At speed of 60km/h, the Camry gets quiet, just nice like before.

4. At speed of 80km/h, the shaking comes back, and more clearly also in a higher frequency.

5. Over 90, it calms down, very nice.

6. Keeps engine running in P shift, I can hear loudly 'to to to...' coming out from exhaust pipe.

Those're all the situation I can tell you, please help me, I'm very worried about that. Who ccan tell me according the situation above, which part likely has problem?

Thanks a lot!

I'm waiting here for professionals!

I am definately not a pro but a pro wanna be. Jst contributing my thoughts.

Who changed ur oil?
was the oil used different from previous oils?
5-30, 10-30, etc
regular or synt?

As for the shifting/shaking problem from P to D, check ur motor mount.
Most likely one of them blew.

Wait a day or 2 for some pro to reply.

First appreciate your timely reply.

I'm in Canada. The 'Canadian Tire' is the biggest Auto Service Company, also has good reputation. The oil is same 5W30 as last time. But I don't know what they really did to my car, no one allow to be around when they are working.

Also the shaking NOT comes out when changing P to D, but it always happen when I keep stepping down the gas pad to accelerate the Camry and stop when waiting for green light.

Thanks again.

The whole car shakes? Are you tires out of balance? Hows your alignment? Is it possible one of the guys that changed you oil hit something while they were moving it?

Have you checked your oil dipstick to make sure the oil level is proper?

Is your oil pressure light on?

Hey man, imediatly check your engine oil level and also check that your oil filter is installed right, when an engine is not getting the oil to the bearing the engine starts to shake like you are describing it, if your can is very low on oil or somehow not circulating the oil the engine will sieze up. them after checking if you oil level is ok then i would change the oil and filter again, but some where else if you are going to have someone do it for you.

Unfortunately, Canadian Tire isn't one of the better places to get your car serviced. They hire cheap labour, basically newbies to do your work. Hey, check to see if they put on the oil cap back on tightly. If left off, your car will sound like crap and perform horribly.

The shakiness in P can usually be attributed to a bad motor mount, but I would suspect something else due to the other symptoms, mainly #6. Sounds almost like it's fuel starved....

Kind of like Jiffy Lube or Pep Boys in the states huh... in that case if it comes back to an oil related issue, have them fix the problem... not you.

1. I check oil level 3days before, it's OK! All the lights are OK.

2. I don't know if the careless guy hit something else, but I knew he forgot to put oil cap back!

3. Someone else told me to have balance checked first too. But I have a question, if out of balance, why the exhaust sounds 'too too too' like a motorcycle?

Thanks a lot!

it is probably not firing right, maybe it can be that its starving for fuel like silver streak said you have you had the spark plugs replaced lately if not replace them soon and also your fuel filter? or it can be that you have a hole in the exhaust pipe.

Great! So many pros show up!
Accordingly, Ok, I'll have them check my car's oil tomorrow.
Other than that, then check the tire balance.

Not good news for me, but I appreciate you guys professional and helpful reply.

oil might be too thin they might of lied with the last change and use a 10w then (it does make a diffence sometimes) older engines need the thicker oil for compression reasons.

i say a DIY tune up. plugs, wires, rotor, distro cap, sea foaming, tb cleaning IACV cleaning. cold start injector cleaning blah blah blah.

Red face Too tooo tooooo

Two ways for that sound, either an exhaust leak or a bad plug. Meaning cords could be messed or something pulled loose. Fix that first. NGK or Denso plugs (minimum platinum).
If you going to swap the wires out, look into swapping the distributor cap and maybe some power coils. Change out your cam cover gaskets if you have a V6.

After that we go to next stage of trouble shoot.

Wheels and tires.
