Electrical (Rant)

So I had a problem earlier about my Driver side rear window not going up but goes down fine. So I take it to a mechanic and he says its the master switches fault.

Hes fuckign around with everything and blows the master switch along with the power roof, dome light, map light, radio and all the other windows......
So we replace the radio fuse so I can at least listen to some music. So as Im driving home I high beam some idiot ahead of me and guess what; every time I use the High beam now, the radio shuts off! HAHAHAHAHA!

SO I buy a new Master switch for 50 bux and replace it and everything works fine. But that window STILL dosn't go back up........
......back to square one and Im $50 poorer......

Don't you wish there was an OBDIII which troubleshooted all of the electrical faults in the vehicle?

U betcha man. Electric problems r tricky to diagnose and spread like wild fire if u mess with a fuse or switch.

^ I would check the motor/regulator in the door. And the wiring going inside the door.

Sometimes the wiring going into the door gets messed up.

if the window switch is good and the window does in fact move, then you know the wires are intact... it has to be the motor that is bad...

The motor and switch are fine. The motor is capable of going up and down. In order for the motor to put the window up u have to pull on the wiring that leads from the door to the chasis while lifting the switch up.

Theres a break in one of the wires, Im sure of it. But when we tested the wires they all seemed to work.

As 88 said ,they break at the point where they flex in that little area between the door and the body. The wire can be broken inside even though the outer insulation looks good. See this all the time at work.

We tested each wire with this little gizmo that pokes into the wire and detects if theres a current and how weak/strong it is. All the wires checked out fine

Dammit!

hmm..ill have to take a look at this, unfortunately in madison two door master switches are hard to come by...at least any place i check out they're uber expensive, and i think i might have fried mine. so if it is the wiring, like you said shawn and le88, that'll save me some money!

Hmm, maybe you should check all your wiring? Sounds like a bad wire.

OK, maybe it's simply just the plug going into the master switch. Since you're probing the wires probably from the plug, then possibly one wire in the plug came loose, or was burnt out, or something....

OMG. Thanks for the scare Dave. BTW, hows your car doing? Your site has NO updates as usual and u stopped coming to the meets. You think your too good for us huh?

Anyways, back to the car. We checked EVERY single wire today and still found nothing. ALL the wires WORK! Even the ones underneath the dash and all the switches work fine too! WTF is the problem then? This is pissing me off now.
