Thats the tranny pan.

Is there fluid leaking around the edge?

You can try tighten up the bolts around the pan. I recommend using a torque wrench for this, they only need about 8 - 12 ft. lbs.

If you don't have a torque wrench, just tighten them up till their fairly tight. But don't overtighten them.

Or you can go ahead, drop the pan, and replace the gasket.

It looks like you need to replace the pan gasket, filter and oil. you can get the fram filter and gasket kit at kragen for abot $25 dollars and replace the oil with Valvoline Dexron III mercon Max life to stop the leak. and also replace the power steering fluid with the same trans fluid. and that should stop the leak, also replace the transmission's differencial oil that is located to the back of the transmission. Hope that helps.

Loks like you may have more than one leak there. In the first picture I for sure see oil leaking from the trans pan. Easy fix. Just replace the pan gasket and fluid tighten to specs as mentioned. As you look torwards the passenger side of the car inthe same picture it looks like you have some oil leaking at the back of the engine as you can see it leaking onto the header pipe and teh bellhousing. It could be a couple of things but more than likely the distributor o-ring is leaking and running down to the bellhousing, it could also be a valve cover gasket leaking and showing up in the same place. Worse case scenario is the rear main seal, which is not extremely common on those engines. Then we move to the front of the engine where you see the front subframe, I guess you would say this is at the very back of the picture. Again this could be a couple of things, front seals (cam, crank, or oil pump seal). You could also have a powere steering pump leak. Then to top all of that off it could be your oil cooler that the oil filter screws onto. First thing is to replace the trans pan gasket. After you get taht done look at the distributor and see if there is any oil on the top of the transmission pooling up, if so good indication the o-ring needs to be replaced. As for the front leaks you cna obviously check the power steering pump from under the car or from the top. If that is not causing any problems then you can take the timing cover off to check for leaks behind it. I would recommend cleaning the engine good where you see oil leaking and give it a few days to show up again then maybe it will be a little bit easier to diagnose. Oh yeah for the valve cover gasket it seems they are pretty common to leak on the firewall side at therear of the engine. Run your fingers along the bottom of the valve cover and top of the cylinder head jsut below the throttle body to see if there is any sign of oil there. As for the oil cooler if there is an excess amount of oil there, more than what would drain out when you change the oil that is, it is a good indication it is leaking. there aretwo o-rings for it and it is good to go.

I know this is a bunch but those are the things I remember from when I was working on them. Those were the most common spots for oil to leak. I hope this helps.
