kinda sounds like their forcing the camry to run on cheap gas .......

an engine that wasnt made for low ocatin being forced too ......

also by those specks the camry only gained 2hp from the introduction of the engine in 94 ... and it has vvt-i now

The engine performance hasn't changed... just the ratings, guys... SAME engine, SAME performance, DIFFERENT horsepower number only.

Didn't the non-VVT-i 1MZ make 194hp? Or does the 2005/2006 1MZ Cam have VVT-i now?

you forget, if you measure the HP of that engine from 1994 by todays standards, its going to be lower too.

We already know that whp is lower than stated. The more accurate they are, the better. Sure it's bad for marketing but I'd rather have more accurate estimates (lol.. what an oxymoron) than let marketing post the "estimates". I'll admit that the 20hp drop is quite a bit. But then again, it did say Premium Fuel Recommended for the V6, at least in our Canadian owner's manual

^vtec?

yes premium fuel but the standards are say that they regulate what oil can be used and prolly the fuel

so dumping in 87 and 10w-30 in a engine made for 93 and 5w-30 is not going yeld the same results.

1mz
94-96 188hp
97-?? 194hp

Yeah, i read this on the front page of the papers. Not only do they bash toyota and honda, but give the big three credit and make it seem that they didnt have to change some of their own horsepower rating. Oh well, its Detroit, whaddya expect
