Interior Lighting (neon) question

Yullo all
im getting back to the camry on monday, thank god. 7 weeks is enuf to give you seperation anixety. Anywhoo im working on my first project back. Interior lighting
i want to add a set of cathodes into the drivers side footwell. ive done some reaserch, and come up with a few things. I know i want to have the lights come one with the door opening, as well as another switch to turn them on. Last but not least i want to have a master switch that will turn the entire system off. kinda complicated. I read this thread which was helpful. This is my first time using a relay so im not even sure where to buy one(ebay but iono). This site has the info of the install.
Heres my diagram

Will this
1. Complete all 3 purposes
2. Work
3.Not blow anything up?

cheers
Anshu

Won't work.

The coil on the relay (85 and 86) needs a positive and negative.

87 is for constant +12V or output, not the door trigger.

You don't need 2 switches on the transformer.

30 is for constant +12V or output. You don't need a switch on it, since the relay does the switching.

I'll modify the diagram I posted in this thread:

Heres the modified wiring diagram.

1N4001 = 1 amp diode. The diode has a silver band on it. You want to install it, so that the end with the silver band faces away from the relay. In other words the end with the silver band connects to the door trigger wire.

The diode will eliminate feedback into the door trigger circuit when 85 on the relay is manually triggered by using the switch. Diodes only allow current to flow one way.

Switch tied to constant +12V is the master switch. If its off, the entire circuit is dead.

This is how the circuit works:

1. Constant +12V in on position and switch on 85 in off position = cathodes will turn on whenever any door is open. When all doors are closed, cathodes will be off.

2. All doors closed. Switch on 85 in on position = cathodes turn on and stay on until you flip the switch to the off position. The switch tied to constant +12V must also be on, since its the master switch for the entire circuit.

3. Switch tied to constant +12V in off position = entire circuit is dead regardless if any door is open or all doors are closed. And the other switch has no effect.

Electronics supply shop, car stereo shop, or autoparts store for the relay.
