What's the average cost of replacing the wheel bearing?

Well, I went to the mechanic bcuz my wheel bearing is ruptured in the right rear.

Part $288.90

Labor $128.00

+ Tax = about $437.00


IS this guy jippin me off? IS it too much or sounds right?

The whole assembly or just the bearing? I paid 70 for the bearing+housing at Rockauto.com and had it replaced for 50 bucks. I hope we aren't talking about the same thing. Left rear by the way. 00 camry Take it to a suspension place, they know how to get all that off faster thus costing you less labor.

That labor is about right, the part however should be $50-$75.

The wheel bearing is going if it's loud or has play.

what kind of "loud" should i be hearing or expecting

lumping noise which gets faster/louder as you drive faster.

just jack the car up and wobble the wheel around to check.

Damn. , This guys is rippin' me off for around three hundred for the bearing then.

I better search google for the cheapest bearings for a Gen 4 camry.
