what is the difference between a 2-way speaker and a 3-way speaker? also, what does the term "coaxial" mean? I plan on buying kicker speakers to match my kicker subs, and i may buy two new kicker amps to replace the one rockford-fosgate i have now.

Hey....the term coaxial means that the woofer and tweater and placed together....in opposed to "component" speakers, in which the woofer and tweater are separate pieces. In general, components have better sound dynamics than components, and have better power handling. I suggest if you are going to add an amp to the speakers, that you opt for a set of components. Otherwise, go for the 3-way speakers....which have a woofer, mid, and high components in one. Hope that helps.

Also, I was being told by a guy working at a stereo shop that components with _passive_ crossovers will steal away some power. So I guess it's better to get components with active cross-over (which I think that's what Henry has in his setup). :???:

I wish my components had active crossovers...unfortunately, they're just passive ones...they look like a little black box.

Yeah, I've heard that they rob some power but if you're not into competition and stuff like that, don't worry about it. Sounds great in my car. Actually, at that stereo store, one guy told me (and Dickson) that the coaxials are better, and then another guy told me the components are better. I think the components are easier to image than coaxials, especially if the tweeter isn't adjustable.
