Gas mileage!

Although Toyota's are world renowned for their durability and economical gas savings, even with my 01 V6 camry it used to have great gas mileage for a v6 but recently after surpassing 100 thousand miles on the odometer I have noticed the gas mileage to keep dropping and droppin to the peoint of 55 bucks a week on gas! Is there a cure or is the disease fatal?!

The cure for your engine could be a tune up, also change the PCV valve and fuel filter.

Check the Air filter too. (don't buy the rip off cheapos from the Auto store... it's better to splurge for the >$10 ones!).

If it's really bad, start looking at the engine computer components.

My old 93 (R.I.P) had an O2 sensor go out and the mileage went from 21 to 12!!

out of curiosity, what are your driving habits like??? The reason i ask is because driving at ful throttle, jack rabbit starts, peeling out, etc. really hamper gas mileage also. At least, that was what my problem was. My mpg has gone up by 5 after changing my driving style. Just a thought...

Yep.. tune up, adjust valves, change air filter and check transmission fluid. Also check tire pressure... inproperly inflated tires can KILL gas mileage.

I get just above 500 a tank in my 4banger but that doesn't really apply here.
