Caliper bolt broken

Grr... doing my rear brakes yesterday (99 Camry Solara, disc brakes), and the last owner broke the head of the bolt holding the caliper to the support on the rear right wheel ><!!! I asked around and it needs drilled through from the other end to remove it, thus ruining the caliper and maybe the support as well.

The cheapest I could find a Solara caliper online was $230. Any chance these are interchangeable with a Camry's or Avalon's? In any case, anyone know where I can get one (used or new) on the cheap?

Thanks guys.

Thanks; I already posted on Solaragy; yeah, I'm going to call some junkyards this afternoon, but I tried a few junkyard search sites online already and came up empty. (car-part.com, getusedparts.com)

If they are interchangeable with Camry/Avalon brakes that'd be a huge help, but I don't think they are .

i am not sure about whether it is interchangable but i assume that it should be. Don't quite me though.

try
www.ebay.com
www.trdparts4u.com
www.toyotaparts4u.com

or try calling this guy who runs a toyota store on ebay.
http://stores.ebay.com/ToyoGobo
From his listing: Call Mike Lane, Parts Manager, at 1-800-951-3232 if you have questions concerns about any of our TRD or Toyota parts & accessories sales on eBay. Lets talk Toyota!

I checked eBay, nothing now or in the recent past. Checked both stores yesterday, $230 for a new Toyota part. Found remanufactured ones for $100. Hoping to find a junkyard one for under $50 shipped though.

Anyone know of a junkyard with a parts Solara?

Also, I found out they should be interchangeable, but the pads are different, and I just bought and opened (can't return) expensive cermaic pads, so I need a Solara caliper I guess.

Thanks guys .

Are the brake calipers for the solara the same for one of the camry's? I know the solara share the same chasis as the camry.... If the caliper for the solara is the same as say a gen4 camry then go get a caliper from the gen4.
Just a thought

Ok, I was thinking from what people told me the camry calipers would work but had different pads than the stock Solara calipers. In fact, the part numbers (toyota and aftermarket ones) are the same for the Solara and Camry, and I was able to confirm with Toyota they are identical down to the pads.

So yup, they will work fine, found one of those pretty easily for $40 shipped, just need to get around to taking the old one out now :P.

Get an EZ Out bit set, it is a bolt remover and a drill bit set, you drill out the headless bolt, and then turn the bolt remover in and it will bite while being turned counter clockwise.

I don't think that would be possible though, the caliper bolts are facing inside the wheel well ><. That's why they have to drill through the caliper to remove it.

If anyone has a better idea before I pay $80 labor and $100 parts to have it removed with a torch/drill and replaced after it's destroyed, please shed some light on it .
