4th Generation How to Raise up the Front Bumper?

Hi all, the more i look at my camry the more i suspect its been hit in front. First of all the license plate frame cracked, then i keep noticing a larger gap between the bumper and the lights, along with it being angled down when u look at it form the side. No damage i can see tho. *prob. low impact*. Looks like water will be getting into my engine compartment, lights, etc since the weather stripping from the hood and lights are no longer in contact with the bumper.

Is there ANYWAY i can raise it back up?

Sorry if this is sort of vague but its all i can do until i learn how to post up pictures *or someone teaches me!*

yah...i know. oh well ur picture is actually something i can describe. So the part of the bumper closest to the fender/wheel well is where its supeposed to be. but it starts slanting dowards as it goes out from the wheel well...the grill and everything seems a tad slumped down. There is a gap between the bumper, turnsignals and headlights. And i guess since the glrill is attatched to the bumper *i am talking bumper cover, not the actual metal bumper*, that slumps down too creating a gap between the top of the grill and the hood of the car.

Makes sense? I just want to raise it back up to close the gaps so when it rains i dont end up with a wet engine etc....

it would also eexplain why i see water inside after i wash my car and open my hood. Im afraid some water may getinto the intake and kill my engine.

Okay.. you're most likely looking at broken clips where the bumper cover is held on.

In my '93 Accord it's like this from the wreck it was in before I bought it. You'll most likely have to buy a new front bumper cover because it'll not be worth fixing the holes.

If you take your headlamps out (the housings) you'll see what I'm talking about. There are clips that go through holes in the front bumper cover. Most likely a slow speed impact hit enough to tear these but hopefully not bust the front bumper support... either way... it's not an expensive fix.

its not that bad i dont think...i cant seem to describe it without exaggerating it. All i can say is, its looking lower and lower to me every day....so maybe i should take it off to examine it?....god, i gotta get me a haynes book.

Yes you'll want to examine it. If it's not my diagnosis.. I'll be surprised.

btw.. we still have the bumper on my Accord like this... it holds fine and the bumper support is there still

I have exactly the same problem with my 1998 camry. I know for a fact the mine has has a front end colsion in the past.

I have checked all the mounting points for the bumper and everything checks so i dont know what causes this drop.

if your car's been in a front-end collision and wasn't fixed properly, your rebar could have dropped a bit (bent downwards and forwards) and it could cause your bumper to be lower than it should be (pulling it down for the bumper to correctly cover the rebar) and there may also something called a front bumper retainer upper filler (at least on the gen3) or something similar to that that is used to hold hte lights and pull the front of the bumper

edit: long story though, there are many many things in the front of the car that could cause the bumper to be lower than it should be....the only way to know is by taking the bumper/lights/grill off, and bascially taking the entire front end apart to see if anything's bent or out of place

oh well holy crap...sad to hear im not the only person...but yeah...

my car has been in a front right side impact. not much damage, mainly right fender, right blinker, and bumper cover, but actual bumper was fine. had the cover replaced etc...and things seemed fine. this was a few years ago. Right now the gap seems largest on my driver side, and i swear its growing.

I really dont want to take it apart, especially if you guys feel that no damage will occur inside my car, like cabes, engine etc. I really dont have the money for it, and my parents wouldnt really care to fix it either, unless its serious. So there isnt any quick fixes eh? like some adjustments of screws or bolts?

oh and my rear bumper was replaced a long while back and its sorta sagging too. Plus the driver rear side is sticking out, sorta like Skewe's car after his recent accident. Seems like the driver side of my car is comming apart..e

Thanks again for all your suggestions and replies. If there is anything else PLEASE add!

EDIT: oh and if you look at the first picture i posted, on the left side of the license frame u can see the super, superglue job..lol
