where is the 2az-fe engine manufactured - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

Can anyone tell me where the 2az-fe engine is manufactured. I have a "J" '02 Camry and am curious if they are all manufactured in america or if there is a plant in japan that makes them. I noticed at all the dealerships in my area that they only carried the "4" Camry's which list the engine as made in the US, I am interested to find out if the engine in mine is a japanese manufactured engine. This is just for my curiosity so please be gentle.

More than likely if the car was manufactured in Japan the engine is als manufactured there. If the car is American built the engine will most likely be American built also. Well jsut went to Toyota website and what do you know they list out waht is buiilt at each plant in the US. Here is the link to the manufacturing page and then you can click on each one to see what is made where. By the way the 4 and 6 cylinder engines in the Camry, Avalon, and Sienna are made in KY.

After some more looking around they actually build pieces of the engiens at several different plants in some cases then assemble them at a different plant.

Eh... my '02 is Japan built, and the whole car, fully built, was shipped here on a cargo ship. I got it when it had 2 miles on it

My dad's Gen 5 was built in japan. Mine's built in Kentucky.
