Problem with a XLE V6

Today I was driving on highway for 200 miles without stopng at about 70-80 MPH average. Everything was good while I was at highway speed but as soon as I exited the highway and stopped at the light my temperature gauge went into red line. But as soon as I accelerated from the light the temperature went down halfway and was flunctuating up and down as I was driving. I also notices that I lost ALL of the power stering fluid and some of the antifreeze does anyone know what is the problem. I have already replaced the thermostat.

And also I have problem puting the shifter through "P" "R" "N" "D" and I can't even put it in the "2" and "L" I have to pull it hard to shif into reverse or drive thank you guys.

Thats pretty crazy! id ask a pro, sounds like sperate probs, the P/S fluid, and the overheating. seriously though, ask a dealer/mechanic.

The car is 1993 XLE V6 3VZ-Fe engine. If I drive car around town for less than 100 miles my temperature is ok and I don't lose the power stering fluid only this happens if I drive over 200 miles in short period.

try taping a papertowel under your "blow off" tube on your coolant resavuor, to see if thats where youre loosing the coolant, otherwise your leaking it somewhere, or u got a bad headgasket (i doubt that), the P/S could be the pump, lines, the rack itself...thats a hard one to tell you, unless im looking at it. well jack it up, and see if you see "wetness" on the underside (near the tranny pan, and oil pan) that would be an indicator to help you find where its comeing from.

^WOW long, hope it helps!

The radiator fan is powered by the power steering pump.
You loose fluid, you loose the fan. That's not a problem on the highway. There is more than enough airflow to keep the system cool without the fan.
Fix the power steering fluid leak & stop driving in the city until you do. You will blow a weak Toyota v6 head gasket easily with temperature changes / high temps.
You can check that the fan/fan computer/high-pressure relay work correctly by opening the Diagnostic port in the engine bay & bridging E1 & OP1. This should give more fluid to the fan, causing it to spin faster.

Thank Toysrme.
