basically, unless you have the technical/mechanical expertise to find out what parts your may or may not need, find someone else who has done the swap, find out what parts you will need, and then go find a mechanic that you can trust, is a transmissions expert, and plead like a little bitch for him to do it for you.....
heard it's really hard to convince mechs to do these kinds of jobs....(jeff's swap)
and good luck!
but if you really wanted a v6 se with a manual tranny....you shoulda gotten a solara....

Reading this post makes me think whether or not Internet (or this forum)should be free.
First of all, you haven't state which SE V6 you have, there's Gen3 Camry SE V6, Gen5 Camry SE V6 and Solara SE V6. Tranny swap is not like putting air refresheners on a car that's called "SE V6", you have got to be a little bit more specific than that.
Secondly (and I can't believe we have nice people like Eye8Pussies to even respond to your post), is that you don't have any manners at all. Come to realization that we don't know you (all we know is your name and you got a "SE V6") and this is your first 2 posts, and you expect people to give you answer as complicate as a tranny swap. No words like "thank you" or "appreciated" before or after you get a response, that's very nice.

You're welcome and good bye.
YOU are rude my friend. I'm a frequent at VVTI.com and Caranddriver and nobody singles out someone like you did. That was a petty move...sorry to come off as rude though, I had to run the little brother to football practice, get to dinner and a Movie with the GF and now I'm here again. It's a 2003 SE V6- Phantom Grey pearl with all the options except a Manual . Thanks i guess...

Don't mind me asking you this, but does it mean that one has to have a certain number of posts to ask about complicated things? Thanks! This is a genuine question about what you're implying. Ok, you get a huge pat on the back for setting this forum up for us, but does it mean that people who ask "unrealistic" questions deserve to be swiped at? What if this person really has the resources to perform that swap (skilled or otherwise?) All he's asking is if it's possible and how much it costs. If nobody knows, say you don't know. Just because people have ideas and want to discuss them, means that they should be charged for it? Forgive me for saying this, but that's ridiculous! I sincerely hope you realized how big this forum might get before you started it officially. You must have expected SOME problems to arise. However, you've already expressed your interest in selling the domain and giving it up. Yes, so there have been changes to the plan, but that happened only AFTER discussing the issues with some members. What kind of a dent do you think that initial reaction did to your credibilty?
Sure, i'm relatively new here, but at least i can draw the line. As the operator of this forum, do you think it's right for you to overreact like that. As if this forum isn't already chaotic enough. BTW, how does it feel? Is it nice being chewed up in public? :-?
Let me ask you this, how fast is it for you to type a word "thanks" while you're typing your message? Is that too much to ask for?
It's funny that I have to ask someone to say thanks, because it's basic manners.
PLRBEAR: If my point wasn't clear, I wasn't saying that I should start charging people for asking questions here.
My point is, is it just too hard to show a sign of appreciation for getting freebies???
His post sounds rather demanding without showing a type of appreciation for an answer. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should write a formal thank you letter or what not.
If we don't talk in front of people's face on the internet, does that mean we we can omit these simple little things that we do in real life?
And I'm not being pointy at newbies, but if we don't know you (and/or your car), how can we help? If somebody you don't know comes up to you and say "Hey I have a V6 Toyota, is it possible to do an engine swap?" Tell me how you can answer that.
I can answer "Yea it's possible, it'll cost you $2G to do everything." but does that help the reader at all? But that's the best answer most people can give by the information that he's given.
He simply ignored "Eye8Pussies" question when he asked is it the new 2003 Camry. All he said was no manual offered on the Solara. How can we help from there?
Sometimes it's not the guys who try to help lack quality response. It's the quality of the questions that we're lacking.

So what are you trying to say?
To be honest, I was sick of running this domain just because I don't see signs of appreciation for the amount of time and work (and not to mention cost) that I put in to this site.
While I'm trying to make change for the better, someone say I'm overreacting.
I could very well shut up and let this forum die, if that helps you (or other forum members) in any way.
Better yet, I can just shut the site down without notifying anyone. What does that to do my credibility then?

nah, i dont think that's necessary...
you're right about the not know who the person is or what his car is and asking a question that is too general...
no, i'm not brown nosing, i just dont want to see TN shut down...
thanks for keeping it running for as long as you have, it it would be a shame to see it ended so abruptly because of a few bitter members...

I think ElegantCam is just looking for a bit of appriciation for what it takes to answer a question like that. To answer your post could take someone ten minutes to write, its not that people here mind doing it, frankly thats why everyones here, just a little respect for one an other.
哈哈哈&#21704 ;

Unfortunately, we can't have our cake and eat it too. Perhaps assuming that a person is grateful for any help dished out here, would be a more soothing thought for you and whoever else operates the site. I'm sure this guy didn't mean to project himself as a rude person. I spoke to him via IM about this, and he worded his response in a way any other mature individual would. What i'm concerned about, is the immediate kick in the face because he doesn't add the word, "thanks". I know exactly how you feel about the amount of effort you've put into this site, as i was one of the founding members for www.2k1civic.com. Ask Derrick, he's the one who runs the website. As with what you experienced, 2k1civic.com outgrew his expectations, and sure enough, there was the usual newbie and black sheep.
For example: If i gave way to someone on the road who wanted to change lanes, and the person didn't send a wave of thanks by me, i'd feel cheated (for the lack of a better word). However, there's nothing i can do about it. In this case, however, you have the power to do something, but is it really worth it? Is it really worth your time trashing someone for not appearing to be thankful? Not in my opinion.
Sometimes it's not the guys who try to help lack quality response. It's the quality of the questions that we're lacking.
There's certainly no way of controlling the kind of questions that appear on the forum. Even if there was, there's bound to be a million shortcomings involved. Websites like www.clubveedub.com have contemplated setting up a "members only" section, where non-paying members are not allowed to post - that didn't solve anything. Would it then be a better alternative to set some ground rules, so that people could be better informed about how this forum operates? Maybe, maybe not. There are many other alternatives to create some form of control, some being more harsh than others. No matter what you choose to do, control will inevitably make TN exclusive, something that i don't believe is part and parcel of any forum's objectives. Seriously, i'm sure Sedan Man's flat posts are considered timid by today's standards. Ok, so he didn't express his gratitude, but at the same time, he didn't do anything negative at all. If you're saying that he didn't specify what kind of car he had, he did say (if you looked at the post subject that it was a "new SE V6". My first assumption was that it was a 2003. I would have thought people would get that and give him some information based on that. However, right after Chris posted that the Solara did indeed come with a 5spd, Sedan Man wasn't given an opportunity to reply, and was promptly ...bashed.
Give people time to adjust and learn the etiquette here, and i'm sure the sincere ones (even if they are few and far between) will "repay" in due time. At the same time, maybe sorting Sedan Man's "etiquette problems" in private might have been more productive. Agree?
In any case, i don't doubt your ability to make this site a greater than it already is. I just think certain issues have to be dealt with in a different manner, which is best for the well-being of every individual, especially yourself.
