Thumbs down Gas gauge acting up after fuel filter change

I just changed my fuel filter in my gen3. Everything went well except that I did not tighten the bolt tight enough after taking it for a test drive and notice that the petrol leaked but i tighten that the leak.

One weird thing, the Gas/petrol gauge on the dash board is acting up. I had slight 1/4 tank left as the needle was slightly above the line.
Took it for a drive down the street, it fell to the 1/4 line.
I open the gas cap for the petrol tank and sccrewed it back on.
Gas went to slightly above 1/4 line.
While driving it again, it went down to 1/4 line and then it went up.

Any idea what is going on?

p.s. I have some pics and instructions but need to download the pics.
will do that by the weekend.

it does that on my car also, for example i'll be driving and beforehand, the needle will be a little below 3/4 tank... once in a while, while i am driving it will go up and down,

Maybe has to do with gas sloshing around in the tank?

I've got mine go up and down. I think it's according to the outside temperature. I always get higher when I drive my car in the evening.

That did not happen to me (as in weather influence) before i changed the fuel filter.

The only thing that affected my fuel gauge before the fuel filter change was when I parked my car on a slope and that would either make the needle point a bit higher or lower..

Now, it goes up and down whenever I drive. That is really weird...

Any thoughts anybody.
