99 camry le help

I have a 99 camry le that i just bought. I have a few questions

1. whenever i start the car the headlights and tailights turn on automatically is this normal? If not what could be causing this?

2. After a while of letting the car warm if you stay in the back of the muffler you can feel alot of hot air coming through it unlike my other 92 camry. And the engine tends to get hot on 40min drives. Is this normal.

3. Oil sludge is nothing new to me since i own a 98 sienna that is currently sludged up.. Will chainging my oil to mobile 1 syntetic put a fix to that.

4. My car has a factory alarm but the guy that i bought it from lost the remote, is there a way i can obtain a remote for it.

Thanxs this is my first time owning these newer gens.

Sounds like you have DRL.. if you do, the headlamps will come on when the car is on.

For the remote find out what brand it is. You can buy a remote from the company that makes it or if it's sold at Circuit City you can sometimes get a remote from them... and sometimes they'll program it for you.

Edit.. didn't realize you said factory remote.. disregard last part

yes you can obtain a new remote from toyota.

changing the oil will not solve the problem, you will need "Flush" inside the sludged up area.

all engines tends to get hot after couple of minutes driving.

about the taillights and headlights, im not sure but dont you guys have RUNNING DAYLIGHTS SYSTEM or something...?? or maybe you forgot to flick the switch to OFF

Thanxs guys. i guess i have daytime running lights. I tried just about everything on the sienna and it still sludges on me one of the reason i didint get the 6cyl camry. kinda sad to see such a new car brake down on me. I guess i will try to check and change my oil often. hopefully the 4cyl wont be the same.
