does anyone know where there is excess weight in the camry that can be removed or changed out w/o spending much money. i want to be able to drop as much weight as possible. so far i have taken out all the seats except the driver seat. i was thinkin about cuttin out the rear deck and just using a different lightweight material to cover it. sound dampening materials can be removed, and anything else.

Neglegable weight loss with any normal removal. Only way is the go ALL OUT and remove/replace major parts. Removing the "rear deck", "door skins" etc etc won't give you and piercievable gain. CF hood, trunk, doors, plexi-glass, light weight rims etc etc WILL, but it's a bit much for the road. Your better off just keeping all the comfort items in, and making more power to go faster.

Do what Sport Compact Car Magazine did to their sentra and cut the roof off, remove the fenders and rear quater panels and such.
They shaved off a full 2.5 seconds off their quater mile time by stripping EVERYTHING out of their car. And it was all FREE. Though it looked like shit (imagine nothing but a frame, donut tires, and a seat) you'll be quicker.

btw right now i have taken out unecessary brackets, rear seats, passenger seat, thinkin about clearin the doors and sound dampening in the floor. the front dash isnt really necessary, but i want something to be there.

Remove your AC, ABS unit, fender lining, cruise control unit, reinforcement bars. That there should be about 100 lbs.

cant take out a/c i live in south carolina w/ 100% humidity, and holy shit my car gets hot. what are reinforcment bars? and my cam doesnt have abs

the problem is that i have a 15 in the trunk and am not takin it out, i just like the look of not having rear seats and want to cut down on excess weight. i saw a civic do 12's w/ 200 hp that had a cf hood, trunk, dash, and the rest was completely gutted. could i make a hood out of sheet metal, or another material that is very light weight
