People rag on it a lot, but I've gotten very good results with Fram oil filters... I've gotten just about equal results from Mobil 1 filters. As far as oil, I was using Valvoline 10w30 for a little while, and I was getting very good results... and I just switch up to Castrol Syntec Blend 10w30 yesterday, and it rides amazing... next oil change, I'm going to drop in Mobil 1 Full Synth because people have had the best results from it.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Fuel Injector Cleaner
Something with Techron® in it for a 2003 model car (costco sells a 4 pack at a good price)

Transmission Fluid
What type fluid does the 2003 take? If it is Dexron compatable go with Mobil Synthetic ATF, if it is not Dexron compatable then go with what the manual says (my 2005 says use Toyota Type T-IV only, so mobil synth would not work)

Oil Filter
I like the Toyota OEM can be had fairly cheap in bulk online
I like the K&N
I like the Mobil I

Quote:

Oil
Mobil I full synthetic - there is no reason in my mind to even consider using anything else. The increased cost is minmal over 100,000 miles if you do the changes yourself and buy the oil on sale.

Make sure you do the maintenance - no matter what you use, just do it, and do it often.

I am currently using Castrol Dex III transmission fluid. I will be switching to Mobil 1 Synthetic soon.

Oil filter I use Denso First Time Fit, Napa Gold, or Purolator (white or blue can depending on what's I can find). Mobil is good, but you'll pay for it; twice the cost of a Napa, Denso, or Purolator blue can filter.

Oil, I am currently using Mobil 1 7500 semi synthetic oil. I used to use Castrol GTX but got a good price for the 7500 oil.

Spark plugs, stick with NGK or Denso platinum or iridium depending on what your manual specifies. Wire set: stick with Toyota or NGK wires.

Fuel Injector Cleaner - not really sure, sorry, but if you have a GOOD mechanic friend, ask him what he would trust for his car/customer cars he likes

Transmission Fluid- i hear that mobil is good, also redline, or gm synchomesh... i have not experitmented with a lot of them, but these get reviewed most often

Oil Filter - i like the oem toyota filters from the dealer... reliable to me

Oil - mobile 1 full synthetic, just what i like and trust - i have 10W30 now

For me, this is my best of things list.

Oil: Castrol GTX 5-30W/10-30W

Filter: Fram ( the regular one, NEVER go with pro/toughf guard)

Fuel injector cleaner: STP Fuel system cleaner /injector cleaner. Or chevron cleanner.

Transmission Oil: Valvoline MaxLife Or regular Valvoline ATF (I think all camrys use Dexron III/Mercon)

Change oil every 3,000 miles, fuel injector every time you do oil change, and the trans fluid every 6 months if you drive your car heavily 1 year if you don't. Then do a tune up.

Anyone tried a WIX filter?

BTW, I get my oil done at the dealership. Cost around 10 bucks more than doing it myself, I get to walk around and check out the new cars, I get called "sir", and they keep records of it so I don't have to

I just installed a wix oil filter the other day and changed to mobil 1 full synthetic. It rides alot smoother than before. I also put chevron premium gas and lucas injector cleaner..I can really tell the difference.

I 'm trying Wix filters since I noticed most pro race cars were using it. I can't say it's better than the Toyota filters I was using. I can say that the oil is staying cleaner looking (amber color) than the Toyota filter did over a 5000 mile period.
