Interior Fading dome light possible?

My 98 Sienna had the "theatre lighting" meaning when you unlocked the doors, the lights would come on and stay on for 30 secs then fade away. or the lights would immediately fade away if you started the car or loacked the doors. Is this possible in my 2000 LE V6? It says in my owners manual that my lights should do this if i have power door locks. I heard somewhere that since my car came with factory keyless entry that i would not be able to accomplish this? Why? The other day i was at a liquor store and noticed a woman getting ready to get into her Camry. It was also a 2000 LE V6 but it also had a moonroof and when she unlocked the doors, the lights came on and when she started the car, they slowly faded away. Since her car is nearly identical to mine, can't i do it as well? Im assuming she had factory keyless entry since were in CA. Also, i had the dealer install the add-on alarm to the keyless entry which was $499 extra(outrageous, i know but too late now.( Please help.

thanks

If that lady has an alarm, not just a keyless entry, then probably yes, the light fading is possible since it's programmed through the alarm brain. The keyless entry brain probably doesn't support it.

but i got the add-on alarm from toyota dealer which makes it an alarm + keyless entry, and i use the factory remote. Is there something i can adjust in the alarm brain to do this?

Now that i think about it, i want it to do exactly the same thing as the ring around the key that lights and fades.

Ok, I didn't know whether you had the full alarm or just the keyless. Didn't Toyota give you a separate alarm manual? Otherwise, you may just have to ask the dealer, if they are willing to help you. :-? I hadn't realize that LE had the fading option with the RS3000 alarm, only the XLE with the RS3200 alarm.

what im saying is, in my 2000 Owners manual it claims that vehicles with power door locks will have illuminated entry upon unlocking the doors. If this is true, then shouldnt there already be a relay etc.... to make it work?
