I want to buy some fake-me-out HIDs off Ebay. The specifications for the HIDs are:
• 4300K color
• High Wattage 100/130W light output with only 80/85W current draw
• Fiberglass base means no burnt wiring harnesses
The seller claims that I wont fry my harness with an 85W bulb with a "fiberglass base" considering that Toyota recommends nothing over 55W.
My question is, does anyone have experience with using higher wattage bulbs with this so-called fiberglass base and do I have anything to worry about or should I just stick to a bulb with 55W or lower? I dont want to mess up the wiring to my lightbulbs or my harness. Your input would be greatly appreciated because I'm trying to buy these today if I get a lot of positive feedback.
IMO I wouldnt put anything more than the recommended wattage for the sake of not burning up my harnesses and causing more problems down the road. So yeah, I would stick to a 55W bulb. Can't go wrong with silverstars or the like.

Yeah I bought some Silverstars the other day for $38 at the store but they aren't shit compared to the fake HIDs I had before. I mean the Silverstars are very bright, but there really is a difference as compared to HIDs. My fake HIDs illuminated EVERYTHING! The street signs looked as if they were 3D and like they were just popping out at me. And of the course the highlight of HIDs was the bluish-white tint. With the Silverstars, I don't get that effect with the street signs popping out at all. In fact, the only time I come close to that effect is when I use my high-beams. Plus, Silverstars dont give me an HID look. I can't go back to regular halogen after the HID experience lol.

don't waste money on their advertisement, it won't last long
it is not just the harness would melt, the wire will also get warm and melt, and the fuse too
IMO, save the money and buy a next car with brighter headlight
Yeah, thats a load of crap, bro. You'll totally melt that shit up with that kind of wattage unless you upgraded your harnesses and wires... but in all seriousness, I think if you want the HID look, just spend a little (or a lot ) extra and get some projectors and HIDs...

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.

Thanks man. But I'm not a car fanatic. I dont believe in such a huge investment. I dont think projectors look right on Camry's. I'm probably gonna trade in my 2002 for a 2006 anyway soon. But someone provided me with a link for some nice looking fake HIDs that only use 55W so I might try those. Super_Kaioken persuaded me to buy the HIDs he had but those were crap. One blew the other day after only THREE WEEKS! I was pissed. But thanks for the info. These few replies were all I needed to make my decision. I thought that ad was a load of crap.
ive been running 120w bulbs in my 55w harness for 9 years (pic may not load server is crap ^^)
about bulbs blowing, yorue probablt BREATHING on them when you go to hit them, which fucks up the bolb jus tlike touching them with ya hand and oil gets on em.
iv ehad one oem bulb blow which was replaced with a 120w 4300k fake hid ages ages ago, and then i took it out and replaced them with 2 other ones (out of a Lancer with about 2 years with them in) about a year ago? maybe more, it looked strange with one yellow light and one multi color light.

get something around 6000k unless you want LESS light output and more rice.

OK for a 2003 camry where can i get the right stuff to do this the professional way. Where can i get Projector light housings and what else should i get......
I saw a 2003 camry on the highway next to me, same color too... it had really bright blue-ish HID's I WANT thAT
i think i havee the same bulbs u bought from Super_Kaioken and have had them in my 98 camry for a good few months now. I dont use them too much as we dont drive at night time all that much but i have to say we've used them for a good 10 hours so far and they seem to still be running strong. for the few bucks i had to spend on ebay for those bulbs i'd say its worth it.
and just to let you know, if you do get fake HID's and u want blue tone but no brightness, you can go up to the 6000K etc...but if you want BRIGHTER and just white and light blue tone, stick with the 4,500k bulbs. I personally like those best. Ive tried the blue bulbs and man they suck.
Of course if you get real HID's u wont have to worry about any of that!
