So ever since I bought my 95 5S-FE 5-spd camry, there has been a slight intermittant annoying sound.
Verbally, I could only say it sounds like a high-pitched buzzing/vibrating sound that is dependant on engine RPM.
It's an intermittant problem, probably with heat and engine temperature being good variables.
When I'm in any gear (with the clutch engaged or disengaged) I get this slight metal vibrating/buzzing sound around 3000rpm.
If I am at a stoplight, and rev my engine from idle to say... 4500rpm. When the tach passes 3000rpm on way up "bzzzz", and when I let off the throttle and the tach passes 3000rpm on the way down "bzzzz"
Also, when I am driving and happen to be in a gear that puts me right at 3000ish rpm, the sound is there, but louder on hard acceleration or vaccuum under deverelation.
I'm heavily leaning towards heat shielding on the stock pipes (that thin metal 2nd layer on the downpipe/intermidiatepipe. Or an exhaust leak.
So, even though I'm sure I've narrowed down the problem to the exhaust system, I would greatly appreciate more input. Perhaps i've steered myself in the wrong direction and need more guidance. If anyone has experienced this or has input on the subject, please help me out
