yes, i broke my shift knob (see my signature). last night the big button just popped out, and it seems broken for good.
i was wondering, what kind of shift knobs (automatic) do you guys have? i want to get another one with an overdrive button on it, but i just can't seem to find any other designs than mine. other than that, is it hard to reroute the overdrive wire onto the dashboard somewhere, and install a button on there instead (like near the light dimmer knob)?
how hard? well are you up to the task of ripping up whatever part of ya dash you want to run the wires in?
its just a on/off switch, with 2 wires, doesnt get any easier (well if it wasnt there it would be easier)

well i bought a carbon fiber shift knob, straight design and real easy to install didnt come with an overdrive button. its ok though because i was not gonna spend 120 dollars on a shift knob with a button. so what i did is i ran the wire to the center ( right before where the cup holders are ) i drilled a hole and bought a chrome switch connected the wires and screwed it in, people constantly ask me if im running on nitrous or sumtin cause they see the switch. i also bought a boot and trick people all the time they actually think my car is manual. newayz i own a 98 gen 4 camry and i bout it here http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/home.asp
and the shift knob i bought is here 1http://www.autoaccessorystore.com/products/678_b.jpg
yea i'm willing to reroute the wires now; i'm trying to think of potential spots for drilling. well, i did some deep research and i narrowed down to 3 shift knobs. what are your opinions of these...
i say the last one with the leather. for the overdrive button, i think you can put it next to the gear shifter in the same position as where the ect button for the gen 3's was.

Levoc makes shift knobs that have a OD button, but their expensive.

You just need to extend the wires (2 wires) and wire in a switch.
kool, thx for the info. i'm gonna try out the $10 shift knob and see how that goes. if it fails, then i'm sticking w/your suggestion
i'm gonna try to find a button instead of a switch (since nearly all ppl use switches, i wanna try something different). anyway, these switches are easy to install right? cuz i have no experience with these.

A push button switch would work. Just make sure its on - off and not a momentary contact switch.
Yes, their easy to install. Get a spst (single pole single throw (2 prong)) switch. Push button, toggle, whatever you want.
