Hey everyone,
I was just wondering if someone can help me. i'm having trouble starting the car up. my friend told me it might be an electrical problem but he doesn't know anything about it. plus i don't have the moey to get a diagnostic run on the car. its a 99 and when i start it up it makes the click sound then a light whinningsound. and when it actually does start to run it sputters then turns off. can someone give me some idea of what i should do. thanks.
check the Air Intake tubbing... i would just about gurantee thats it.. it came loose or even off.. make sure its Tight and all the way on.. the BIG hose that runs from the Trottle body to the Big Black Box good luck on that

should i also say that the car doesn't start. it whines when the engine is not actually working. i have to turn the key several tines for it to actually start
Are you having problems everytime you try to start it? The clicking sound appears to be the starter. Or if your battery is too weak, it (starter) will make a clicking sound. Try the simple stuff first.
sounds like the starter is spinning but the solenoid is not kicking out the starter gear to engage the stater ring gear. thats why you hear the started motor spinning but the engine isn't turning over. it's the sloenoid on the starter. take it to a rebuild shop and save yourself some money.
^ exactly what he said.....when the solenoid dies, it can either not spin up at all, spin up without kicking out, or not go back in and disengage from the flexwheel
it probably sputters and turns off after because by holding the starter for too long until the starter solenoid allows hte starter to engage, the starter is already too hot to be as effective as it should be
though beyond that, what jagqire said is valid as well- make sure your intake tubing and maf sensors are all tight- if it's loose, it can cause the stalling, but if there is NO proper signal at all from the maf, the engine won't even turn over
