The reason I purchased my new Konig 17" rims/ yokohama tires this last spring was because I needed new tires anyways...so I bought rims as well...Now, in Minnesota, winter is approaching. The logical thing to do, normally, is put snow tires on the stock steelies, and slap them on for the winter...but I do not have the money to do that....So I'm wondering will the snow/salt/sand and everything else that sucks about winter "damage" my rims? My current tires are all season performance tires....but keep in mind I'll be installing H&R springs very soon.
use a deep penertrating alloy/wheel protectant spray.

for your rims, just find those heated do-it-yourself spray washes and give them a good shower every week- the cost is miniscule compared to if your rims start rusting/fading, etc.
but more to the point tho.....you ARE going to die /crash your car with 17" all season performance tires.....no matter how good those all performance seasons are (I had the re910s- which were amazing in wet, and I though would do for snow too, but...) you WILL have MAJOR problems in the snow....I couldn't even stop for a stop sign when only going 30kph
even if you have to borrow money up to your ears, get some decent snow tires for your steelies, or at least put your steelies with your stock all-seasons back on for hte winter or pay the price....
