3rd Generation WTF! shaved emblems issue (noob clarification)

Hey everybody

Ok, I thought it would be nice to clean up the trunklid of my camry so i decided to shave the emblems... but, to my dismay when i pulled the V6, XLE and TOYOTA emblems off, they each had 2 little prongs and went into the trunklid itself. I'm just a little confused b/c i swore hearing that they were studless. Whats the deal here? Sorry but i just thought there would be no holes for anything except the Toyota logo

My V6, XLE, and TOYOTA logos have prongs too. Luckily I saw them and stopped before continuing.

Gen 3 had the guide holes. Shaving would include filling and painting, not just pulling adhesive.

Gen 3.5, Gen 4, and Gen 5 didn't have prongs in their emblems. Gen 3 and below did.

Hahaha, thanks. It feels good knowing that the time, money, and effort invested pays off. I posted more pics of my car, and others, from that meet where my sig pic was taken in the SoCal meetings forum.

Yeah, my 96 had holes for all of them. It's not really that hard to fill them. Just a little welding, grinding, filling, sanding, primering, and painting

if you're really going to do that, just take off the ones that you have now carefully, paint them, and then tape them back on
