i mean if they're gonna stop you for having lighted windshiled squirtors, do you think they'll turn their heads at turn signals?
plus with the new stupid ricer crack down initiative, you're looking for some hurt

It's illegal to have blue turn signals I believe. I'm pretty sure the bulb is 1156, at least that's what my 93 camry has. I have had blue turn signals for about 2 years now. I'm pretty sure California cops would be a bit more strict and alert about stuff like that compared to Montana cops though. Plus, don't you guys have to have vehicle inspections or something like that?
Yes, its California law that your turn signals must be amber. However, that hasn't stopped many people from making theirs white... but still, they can easily be pulled over for it. And where the hell have you been? You just disappeared all of a sudden..

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
suposed crack down thing..someone posted about it a few months back

Depending on where you are in CA, you don't need to SMOG. In Forestville, no Smog, 10 mins down the road in Santa Rosa you need to SMOG. No inspections. Some cars have red turn signels, so I guess that would be OK.
Yes, there is a ricer crackdown in CA. CHP officers received a grant... a nice large sum of money... to crack down on cars with loud exhausts, "racing stickers," neon lights, large wings, and other "obvious signs" of having a modified car.
..because those stickers give you a force induced air effect, much like that of a turbo or s/c.

before you think about changing colors, be it legal or not, think of visibility to other drivers. generally, red is a bit darker than orange (amber) so it may not be as visible.
if you want to change any bulbs, just do what i did: i got my back-up lights blue. they're pretty bright as well. and c'mon, what are the chances that a cop will see me backing up? not high. plus they give off a whitish glow so it's hella visible...so think about it.

In California, you can have amber or white turn signals in the front and amber or red turn signals in the rear. Red or blue lights in the front will get you pulled over quick. Those colors are reserve for emergency vehicles.
Quote:
Vehicle Code
Turn Signal Lamps
24953. (a) Any turn signal system used to give a signal of intention to turn right or left shall project a flashing white or amber light visible to the front and a flashing red or amber light visible to the rear.
(b) Side-mounted turn signal lamps projecting a flashing amber light to either side may be used to supplement the front and rear turn signals. Side-mounted turn signal lamps mounted to the rear of the center of the vehicle may project a flashing red light no part of which shall be visible from the front.
(c) In addition to any required turn signal lamps, any vehicle may be equipped with supplemental rear turn signal lamps mounted to the rear of the rearmost portion of the driver's seat in its rearmost position.
(d) In addition to any required or authorized turn signal lamps, any vehicle may be equipped with supplemental rear turn signal lamps that are mounted on, or are an integral portion of, the outside rearview mirrors, so long as the lamps flash simultaneously with the rear turn signal lamps, the light emitted from the lamps is projected only to the rear of the vehicle and is not visible to the driver under normal operating conditions, except for a visual indicator designed to allow monitoring of lamp operation, and the lamps do not project a glaring light.
If white turn signals in front were unlawful, I would have been pulled over for them already. I accidentally made my front signals white...I thought the car has an amber piece in the corner to make the light orange so I bought a set of clear bulbs. I bought the wrong wattage bulb even. But I guess 3 or 4 watt difference should be ok.
