2nd gen engine and trans swap

Ok from what I have seen on here celica motors and trannys will swap into a camery. I run dirt track and am trying to decide if I should just build a new celica or swap motor and tranny on my camery. The camery has the 3sfe engine and an auto trans. I deffinatly want to go with a manual trans and the car will never get out of 3rd gear. will the wireing harness work with modification or should I just pull the one from the donar car? I know I will have to change ECU's Which trans are better (aka lower gear ratios) one from a camery or a celica? I plan on reinforcing my unibody and removing excess sheet metal where I can. Are there any celicas or camerys that have LSD trans or not? Thanks in advance for any help

Get the complete harness, makes things much easier.
You need the ECU too.

The celica and the camry share the same transmissions, so what ever manual transmission you find will be the same. None of them had an LSD, unless you find a E153 from a 3SGTE Mr2, but that will take more work to install i beleive, and im not positive all of them had one.

other than that, sounds like a fun project. There are a few 3SGE camry's running around.

Tommy, Thanks for your response, guess I just find a motor and tranny and pull em together, gotta keep it stock appearing to pass inspection, cant have custom mounts.

the celica engine and transmission will bolt directly in there, so unless they know what a 3SFE looks like vs a 3SGE, youll be fine.

Itd be easier for you if you could find a 5SPD camry to harvest the tranny parts from, cause youll need a lot of stuff for a conversion.
