3rd Generation motor rebuilding and other stuff

So recently I've ran into some extra $$ from a relative. I was wonderin, any know a rough price estimate on rebuilding a 3vz, and readying it for a turbo, and possibly in the future a new built trans. I'm pretty sure i've got the funds to do it, but I'd like some ppl to run some numbers by me. Thanks.

I think i remember hearing Ufoz spent 4000 bucks on his 5s-fe rebuild too.

So it's not cheap.

J/w How much cash do you have to spend?

Basic rebuild (stock internals with new rings, seals, etc..)? Or beefing it up (forged pistons, rods, etc...)?

Forged pistons are around $100 - $150 each. Same with the rods (chromoly steel billet rods).

So your looking at $1200 - $1800 just for pistons and rods.

Then figure in labor and necessary parts.

word. its not worth it, not to try and persuade against something you want to do.. if you want to turbo, buy a turbo car.. its not worth blowing your motor. especially the 3vz.. but if it something you REALLY want to do.. talk to tony. He knows ALOT about tuning and turbo info.

i recently just did this along with PP and tunz of other goodies....i paid nothing for labor (gotta love good connections), only for parts and other random shit that happnd including broken sensors and bolts etc it cost over $2500+ after about 1500 miles of use

i have xtra ct-26 turbo lyin around and have plans to use it on the new motor...i estimated another 2000 for other parts besides the turbo and turbo timer i would need and factored in one guy i would have to pay to weld up the piping.

Why don't you put that money down on a brand new soon to be released 5/6? speed manual trans. 2007 Camry, and make low monthly payments. It'll probably get upto speed almost as fast as a built 3vz, without the noise and vibrations.

i assume ur refering to me

i didnt do the turbo for 3vz YET, im still heavily debating its worthwhileness, especially since that means id need a manual swap since at a turbo at even a minimal boost woud overload my auto with the added power i already will have after a fuel system upgrade and fixing the knock sensors

id really like to find an MKIII or MKIV, im also still debating on selling the cam for my brothers Mustang 5.0, my drawback on that is one, its a Ford, two, theyre ugly. While im thinkin of the MKIII though....anyone know ifthe 7mge engine has the same internals as the 7mgte. Even if i could find a 7mge i have all necesary parts to bolt on the turbo
