4th Generation Only my left signal flashes fast, but no dead blubs!?!

Hey guys, new to the forum.

Can anyone tell me why only my LEFT turn signal would flash fast? My right signal and my hazards flash correctly. I have checked for dead bulbs and have found none. Thanks!

if the bulbs are still alive, this is the indication that they will go soon. also, check the ground connection cuz that can cause such a problem.

the connection of the left signal might not be secure properly. looks like something gonna die soon. so better check it ASAP!

I know very little about cars, but I do have some experience with car stereo installations.

Where would I look for the ground? Is there a different one for the rear signal than the front signal?

Very common. Happened to both my 98's. Yes the bulb works but there is a problem with one of the bulb filaments. Change the bulb for the fix.

WTF? Why would the other bulbs go soon? You are right to check the grounds. Tear into the wiring harness to look for broken or corodred wires also.

check the flasher. its a black square relay looking thing under the steering wheel on the left side in front of the door. you can feel actuating (clicking) when you have your working signal on. if i recall its like $10 for a new one. dont go tearing apart your wiring harnesses...

The problem usually lies in the front turn signal sockets, in your case the left front. Toyota has modified the sockets to stop this problem

that is a real common problem in the gen4s in the state....we had to get some gismo fixed/replaced. didnt cost much but it sure wasnt the bulbs fault. its been about a year and no more problems. the issue used to be that somewhere the contacts were loose cos if you used ur fist and hit the turn signal in front it'd go back to normal...and even twisting the blub never helped...it was something else.

anyways just get it fixed and no more headaches...or in our case, handcramps.

I just had the exact same problem fixed last weekend. I totally agree with nodrogkam. It is not the fault of the bulb. You do not need to change the bulb if you think the bulb fine. Just take out the bulb and clean the contact between the bulb and the metal that touches it. In my case that was what I did and it fixed the problem......... at least for now.
