Hello, Ive been looking at many Camrys and Corollas lately. One thing I noticed is that the numbers on the odometer are never in a straight line. Ive turned down all the cars for the fact that it looks tampered. The thing Ive been doing is looking at the maintance records, but some people fail to keep them? Do the Toyotas have a problem with the odometers...ie numbers crooked? Or would their be something else that may cause this other than crooked people?
if the body is straight most likely the engine is too.
bring a magnet when you go car hunting and check for bog. cars that are TOO CLEAN probaly have been in a couple of crashes.

OD switched off, even when not in 3rd results in major power loss/rpm drop.
bog is body filler, its not magnetic so youll know becuase the magnet wont stick to it very well.
bog tends to fall off in a year or 2 after its been applied*** (ie a repair job after a crash)
good shops will do it will all metal and maybe bog 1mm-2mm but 99.9% of shops will just hammer and bog to straighten the body out.
you dont want ya paint fallin goff after 2 years.
*** a decent shop (the same one who will only use 1-2mm of bog will use the right additives to keep it flexible/non porous...but goo dluck finding anyone like that unless you do it yaself.

crooked vertically, or the 10k number and the 1k number are not quite in line?
Most vehicles won't have the odometer in a straight line, the little plastic geaars have a little bit of play in them.
With the way they are designed, they normally won't be all ligned up. Think of it as a clock, the hour hand doesn't point directly on the hour unless the minutes are at zero. Tampering with it won't make it appear any more or less crooked. If something isn't lined up, it won't turn anymore.

The Toyotas that I have looked at have the numbers crooked all the way across.

also newer ones are desinged if you roll it back it will break something making not move anymore rember what it was at before you take it out and if it comes back the same then it's tamperd with. also when most people roll it back they tend to do it to a even number
