I had that happen on my old car, does it turn on when you press the brake or when you turn on your lights? Because that will tell you which one to look for.
Anyone know why the Gen5 Camry, doesnt have this feature. I was driving around for weeks with a Brake Light out and didnt know it.
My moms car has had that light on for a year. There are no bulbs out, and all the connections are good. I have no idea why it's like that, but if anybody knows I'd love to know.
If you have absolutly no bulbs burnt out, then the LAMP FAILURE module has gone bad. It's located on the driver side of the trunk behind the carpet and right behind a peice of sheet metal, you'll see wires going to it. It's about 2" square.

I had that indicator light one once. It turned out to be an improper ground to my spoiler brake light. The idiot I paid to installed it did didn't know what he was doing, and the dealership did a lousy job to fix it - their wiring job came loose...they used freakin electrical tape instead of crimp connectors.

So do I have to replace it, or can I just remove it?
lol, I had that light go on and off on me after buying my Camry recently. Had no idea wtf it was. Found out from a friend that my left rear brake light was out, but then it went away and then all the brake lights were working okay, but then it starting acting up again.
I just opened the panel housing in the trunk on the drivers side to check out the wires and everything seemed ok. I just unplugged the connectors to the brake lights and reconnected them and all was good. Probably just a loose connection or the bulb was loose.

with the gen3 the parking light in the rear on the outer side of the signal go out and its really hard to see if they are working or not. Took me a long while to find the burned bulb. maybe re-check those.
