2nd Generation Cold air intake?

Does anyone have a cold air intake on their gen2 v6? I fabbed one up this afternoon but the damn sensor on the top of the air box throws a code and it won't rev and barely idle. I just started driving this car and I want to do a few mods to help out it's performance. Is a drop in k&n the only option or is there a way to get around the air box contraption.

Ummm... "that damn sensor" is what measures the airflow into your motor. Put that inline with your intake so that the air goes through it and all your problems should dissapear.

I did search and I didn't find anything very usefull for the gen2. I was in a hurry when I posted the question and I realize it didn't come accross as very inteligent and really noobish. Most of my experience is on Jeeps with a lot less complicated electronics and no air flow sensors, just a TPS and an IAS on the throttle body. I'll try to get the sensor inline without restricting the flow too much. My jeep has 310 lb/ft of torque and I miss it when I drive my new DD, so I want to do a few things to help out the old v6. Thanks for your help.

I hope you didn't unscrew the plug on the AFM and pull on it. If so that will be your undoing.

The car will not run without a AFM or a messed up AFM.

You need a AFM adapter.
