Quick Turbo?

I know it's probaby been cover a million times, but I couldn't find it.
1. How much power/ howlong will our 5speed (4 cylinder version) trannies hold up to?
2. Also, How much faster does a good turbo setup make a camry. Meaning 1/4 mile times and top end. Also, what do you think an average 0-60mph time is for a good turbo camry? (oh by the way, I realize you need to redo all the suspension/handling/ brakes... before going very fast in these cars) Hope these don't seem like dumb questions to anyone.

1. I am pushing 7psi, with a tranny cooler, and a high synthetic fluid, the tranny should hold out. Its an AT too.
2. i am running arounf a 15.4 1/4 mile, hopefully... havent quite finished everything yet. I also have not redone anything on my camry such as suspension/brakes. Although i very much plan to do so.. I dont plan on goin fast on roads or taking quick turns until i get more money.

With an S51 5 speed and a decent clutch, good tires and 180-200 whp I think a good driver would be in the 14's and an S51 should hold up to mild (7 psi or less) boost as long as you dont drive it like a maniac everywhere.

Then you didn't catch my sarcasm. If "tuning" got you into the 15's then you've got a lot of "tuning" to do, especially with a CT26. 15's are hardly anything to be proud of and untill you turn a 16 second car into a 11-12 second car, then you can talk about tuning.

^ 15's are something to be proud of. If you put time, money, and love into your car, there is nothing to not be proud of.

Actually id love to see you get into the 15s on a stock engine and auto tranny, he has done a great job with his setup and I dont think sarcasm from you is needed here.

Props to anyone with a 15 second non-built 5S-FE Camry

So he's running 15's with a stock 5s-fe with a turbo on it?
I was looking for numbers from a built 5s-fe then I guess, cause if I do this, I'll start with a completely differnt block, bore, fored internals, rework the heads, and all that good stuff.

On a side note is, it possible to stroke one of these engines?

o man, i thought you were just looking for a quick build up. If your looking to do a motor swap i recommend the 3sgte, very fun motor. its turbo'd w. forged internals, and has a very good background.

also, thanks for the support.. this dude has been bashing the 5sfte since he arrived here on TN. i just ignore and move on. I dont think he realizes the research that went into this motor.

Pretty impressive to turn a 17 to 18 sec car into 15's. Think of what a stock auto Camry runs.

It's not really rated by how slow the stock car is in my book. My Integra is slow when it was stock (mid 15s's for a GSR). Well, it's deep into the 12's now and enough power for 11's (just not traction) but that isn't much to be proud of especially when there are 2312390342 of others that are about the same, if not, making twice the power that I am making.

On the other hand, I am definitely proud of my Camry even if it isn't faster than the Integra. At one point my Camry was faster, but then I did some work on the Integra and it widened the gap again.

Turbocharging a Camry is a whole different ballgame. I just like being one of the only turbocharged Camry's in my country. So yes, it;s definitely something to be proud of.

Its possible by using a different crank. One with increased stroke.

However I don't know if one exists or not for a 5S.

I know that you can stroke a 3S by using a 5S crank.

You could send the crank to a machine shop and pay a crap-load to have someone make you a stroker. Also importperformanceparts.net was listing a 5S-FE stroker on their site which I believe would bring it up to 2.4l. The problem is, they said the stroker would be out last September...
