New shift knob... need help

I just got a new shift knob but my camrys old shift knob was constructed differently so now my shifter is longer and it looks bad (i feel like a trucker)

Is there somewhere i can buy a shorter shift rod so it will be the proper height?

Could i cut the metal rod to make it shorter?

Need Help!
