Gen5 bumper dent =(

got rear ended in a parking lot and found it like this when i got back... hit and run... anyone know how much it'll cost to fix this bumper dent (looks more like a crack)? Just wondering if it's less than the $500 deductible from insurance. ><

It will prob be less than 500. I wouldn't put in a claim, especially if it will effect your rate.

Best way to find out is to go get some estimates.

It really depends. If there is damage underneath then you will be paying more. I am not sure how they fix it, I know I had a similar ding with a small puncture in the bumper cover on a TL and the body shop was able to fill it with something. Mine is not to ask why? I just pay the body shop...

I'd have to sort through the receipts. I think it was around 800, but that included some other miscallaneous paint work.

Defenetly go to some body shops and see how much they will charge you for the job.

As far as repair, they might use fiber glass, bondo, body filler, I have the same thing going on with my front bumper.

The hardest part is going to be the paint. This is b/c unless you paint the whole thing you will be able to tell where the newly painted patch overlays with the original paint in certain lighting conditions. The best way to avoid this is to have the whole thing painted, even then it will not EXACTLY look like they match under certain lighting.

If you check out my Car Domain site in signature, and you look and the 2nd picture on the left, look at my rear door, you might be able to see what im talking about.

About 400 bucks same happened to my camry and thats how much they charged 350 but he was a friend. And what sucked was what happened my car was parked outside target and when i came it was hit, no one to blame. Filed a complaint to cops and soon what do you know? The lady took my lisence plate and said i hit her, i ended up paying for her. Such a bitch..

I did mine for <$200. New bumper, new paint, and installed. Perfect fit, perfect color match.

I think I posted up a thread in the seller feedback forum here on TN about the eBay seller. Do a search for threads I started. He might carry gen5 bumpers.

Hard Bondo or filler on a flexible bumper would be a no-no. It would fall off the first time you even looked at it. You might try for "plastic welding" if the original bumper is not too misshapen. Since the whole bumper will be repainted why not put on a good used bumper cover. DIY in an afternoon and let the bodyshop prime and paint.
