Adding Trunk Gas Strut

Basically... i have so much raam on my trunk the trunk lid has a hard time staying up. I want to add a trunk sturt mount like my hood has to keep it up well. What should I look into getting? Any size or something.

i don't think thats possible... the trunk doesn't open like the hood does and there is no good place to mount the struts. if you look at the hooks on the inside of the trunk, you see it opens in a circular motion, and not in an up/down motion.

No I was thinking on the arm that connects to the trunk and the sheet metal right below it, looks like it will work just fine. My gf's mustang has a strut in the trunk.

Does the Mustang also have goosneck arms like the Camry? My friend's G20 has those struts also, but it doesn't have the arms like my car...

you should do the custom trunk lid that goes straight up and doesn't do the tilt thing it just goes straight up and moves toward the rear window ummm.... i think you can get them from www.autoloc.com they are called Flip Flop Trunk Kits and then you can have your choice of what way you want it to open

I'm thinking about doing this to my trunk too. I work at Cobalt Boats and can get the struts at cost and our metal shop makes brackets with the stud to mount them. All I need to do now is go find a couple of places to mount the brackets. The only problem I'm going to have is getting the measurements of the distances with the trunk closed and with it open to fit the struts I'm getting.

flip flop trunks. no thanks.

Im not sure, ill have a look today at the mustang.

I dont see how hard it would be, because all it needs is to apply pressure when the trunk is up and be able to collapse back into the strut when its being closed
