restricted exhaust?

I have found the exhaust air coming out the tail pipe very weak. ( I used my hand to feel it)
I took down the converter but I can still see through it , so it is not clogged. The exhaust air also does not pulse but just weak hot air . Is this normal???????

at idle, yes. and more info about your car would help.

if your cat is clogged, you'll feel a good bit of power loss

93 v6 engine . I did a vaccum guage test using the pcv port. when increasing the idle speed gradually ( slowly ) the pressure remains the same while on my jeep the vacumm reading increases as well. when release thottle quickly the jeep will return to previous reading quicker than the camry which jumps up a little and lingering for a while before coming down to the previous reading. Thgis together with the weak hand feel at the close opening of the muffler ( while the jeep has a much stronger pulsing feel ) make me think that there might be excessive back presure in the exhaust system.

but the y pipe is new. Took down the converter which is sooted with carbon but I can still see through it . At 120,000 miles I don't mind changing the converter anyway. But could there be restriction at the junction where the mid pipe meets the muffler ( really crushed rusty look)
The muffler looked fine .

any experience? or is everyone having the same weak air flow out of exhaust pipe?

hmmm....you may be right....it sounds as though it's a pressure related problem...the vacuum should change noticeably even when the idle is increased slightly and when the throttle is off, the return should be immediate...

this does not have to do with the weak exhaust, but have you checked to see how much carbon deposits your throttle body has? perhaps it isn't opening and closing as properly as it should and perhaps not as wide as it should either in relation to the pressure that you put on the throttle

otherwise, I have no idea either....
