aerodynamics are so important :) (ot camry rant)

indeed they are

you may have seen toysrme's thread about decreasing lift by changing tthe front under fairing.

as you know, i DO NOT have a camry but a rebadge which happens to have a different front bar, so my underfairing is different, it is in 3 parts, and much better then the stock camry ones

the middle part allows extra air deflection into the radiator while running flat afte rthe radiator to the front crossmember. the 2 side bits cover everything from the front to the inner wheel guards and also hav a slight deflect to aid cooling of the half shafts.

i always though that mine was poor, with the same lift effect that other in camrys were getting at around the 100kph mark, but, i buried the speedo needle earlier (240kph) and found that at 200kph+ the anti lift is amazing. it feels more confident to go at 200kph then it does at 100kph. guess i just needed more speed :P probably also helps that im running i springs on a v6 (lower front so when you accelerate the car is level)

lol thats it.

if you like to see the camry front end tuck like nobody's business and want to feel the literally stick to the road at high speeds, go pick up a rmm lip

not when you're taking turns in the highway at 200kph+...then downforce is your friend

youd need a balance of downforce at the back then as well...

i still prefer zero lift :P

less strain on the chassis/engine and more speed :P

Don't mean to stray off topic

but my 95 5S-FE with the 5-spd can only barely reach 120mph (193kph)

It was on a Closed course, professinal driver, do not attempt on public roads yada yada yada

Is that what I should expect from a gen3 5S-FE? Or do you think something is holding me back?

Damn right about the RMM Lip. On a front wheel drive car, more downforce on the front is probably what you want. I still remembered when I first installed the front lip, I noticed there was barely any wind noise on a very windy day on the highway. I was really impressed. Eventually, I became even more impressed why my brother noticed the front wheel starting to tuck as I went higher speed

If you take note on my latest Camry video, you'll notice that I had to barely hold onto the steering wheel while travelling upwards of 120 mph. On the same stretch of road being inside my Integra, I had to hold on to dear life at those speeds.

I've got the I4 Manual though.

Maybe one day i'll try to max her out. With an empty car.

I had about 600lbs in passengers and cargo, maybe that's why I couldn't break the 120mph point.

Hmm the functionality of the RRM never really crossed my mind. The only problem for me though is that I really am not a fan of the RRM lip at all. Oh well. Are there any other fronts out there that provide this type of downforce as well or is the RRM the only option available?

it never crossed your mind that they orignally used the RMM lip and spoiler on touring cars for a real purpose?

-_-
