"MAINT REQD" SIGN

Hi all:
I just did an oil change service to a friend's 2004 Camry LE (4 cyl, 15k miles on it) and now everytime upon starting up the car, its having "MAINT REQD" yellow warning sign pop up and then after 5 times blinking the sign, it goes away. I used toyota brand filter and 5w30 4 qt oil. I have been doing oil changes to my camry (2002) and corolla for years without any such issues.
Any ideas why its doing it? Appreciate any insights.
Thanks.

goes off every 5k. make sure the odometer is showing the amount of mileso nthe car. hold the odometer button with the key in acc. turn the key to the run position while holding the button. youll see a series of dashes where the odometer is. wait until there are no more dashes and its reset.

IIRC, you need to have the odo display nothing, then push and hold the reset button while turing the key on, not start. This is what I do in our Sienna, Solora and Camry (all 04s).

The odometer thing works great on my '05 SE. Just went past 10k miles for my second oil change which I did myself and reset the Maint Req indicator.

Turn the key on and make sure the odometer is set to display the total miles.

Turn the key off

Hold down the odometer reset button

Turn the key to the "on" position without starting the car.

Hold this until you can see the odometer display balnk out and and turn back on indicating a reset.
