Question Rear Diff. Turbo

i was talking to a guy that i just met and he was talking about a turbo that you can put in the back of your car... he was talking about a firebird(i think it was) at UTI that has one and he said that some how it has no lag and is pushing 700 RWHP !!! i was just wondering if anyone had ever heard of anything like this... by the way that he explained it it goes in the back of the car and just connects to the nearest exaust pipe and then goes right out to the tail pipe, and you run all the piping up to the front of the car from there. i am trying to look up anything on it but i havnt found much yet, if anyone knows anything about this tell me and ill keep you guys posted with what i find out.

yup STS, its just remote mounted outside of the engine bay, and when you think about it, its not that bad. the piping distance.flow rates are pretty much identical to something stuck inside the bay of a single turbo V-engined car.

it doesnt help with lag, its more of a stealth install type thing...sleeper like.

there has been a thread or 2 about it on here, with pictures...hit the seach on the STS, youll find it.

remote mounting is a good option for na v-engines... toysrme's set up is almost remote mount (its under/to the rear of the engine)

there was a pretty long argument about conventional turbos and the sts rear mounted turbos.

if enough people want to buy a remote turbo for there car they will most likely make one for us... so anyone that wants one go to the web site and then contact us and type in the info that is required and if there is enough people that want one they might just make one for us.

I was watching RIDEs the other night and saw where they had mounted one on an HHR that Darkside Motors did. The install looked very clean but most of the show was all about the look of the car and not so much the performance so they didnt get into any affects it had on the car.

Well for starters you are going to need to build up your top-end of the engine with higher-quality materials so that you won't have a blow-up. Then after that you're going to need to be patient and have enough money to do it right.

*edit: Why not just find a TRD supercharger for the 1MZ-FE in your car and do some custom work to fit it in?
