wheel noise

any guesses on a noise in right front wheel only heard some of the time when turning 90 degrees or so left or right. Sounds like the noise your baseball cards made when you stuck them in your spokes of your bicycle, click click click. no steering problems, no other noise.

wish i could tell you more but its all i hear. Sometimes i do think it may be more apparent after the car has been sitting. could be that i can't hear it when i am in more trafficked areas.

?
thx

You can check one of this 2 things:

1. CV-Joints
2. Check if there's nothing stuck on your tire, like a big screw or nail.

Other than that, not sure what can it be...

You most likely have a bad right front cv joint. This should be more noticable when making left turns as the weight is then transferred to the right front wheel. This most often occurrs when the rubber boot covering the cv joint breaks and the cv joint grease is thrown out by centrifical force and water and dirt get in to the joint and destroy it. You can look under the wheel well for teltale signs of grease and to see if the boot is ripped. If this is the case, the cheapest fix is to install a rebuilt complete right front axle. The cost should be around $180 - $200, if you take it to an independent shop (not the dealer).

CVC joint sounds like the most likely candidate. If it is this, there is no immediate rush to fix it. It can rattle like that for months and it will get more and more irritating before it is a safety issue.

yes but if you let it go til it breaks then you are screwed and it could possibly do more damage to steering and suspension parts. If you are mechanically inlcined jsut do it your self. Buy the axle form a reputable company and spend about 2 hours or so putting the new one in. all you need are basic hand tools and a good pry bar and you are good to go.

I guess what I am trying to say is that this isn't something that you have to take care of immediately. You can take time to find a good deal with a mechanic (warranties, price, etc) or plan to do it yourself when it is convenient. I've gone through several of these and I have yet to have one fail on me, let alone come apart. If you have it done, try to get a warranty on both parts and labor for as long as you can get.

I agree with you completely. I jsut want to make sure that he knows they can break to the point where the vehicle is not driveable. I have only seen it happen on a couple of cars but the possibility is there. Like you said he should get the longest warranty possible that covers the most as far as parts and labor go.
