Do they blind people especially when i dont have the Projector Headlight
Well projectors are a different type of lighting source, just like HID and halogen.
Projectors are mainly used for the "cut off" line that they have, but are sexy
HIDS are bright, look good in the dark IMHO, but will they blind people? Im sure, if your headlights are incorrectly aligned it will a lot more than normal, but to be fair.. headlights, no matter what they really are, more or less will blind people at night.
I havnt done HIDs yet, but ive been doing a TON of research for an upcoming project. *Cough*Gen4.5 conversion w/ HIDs*cough*
The thing you must remember, with the stock gen4 camry lenses, they are textured, so this will cause a LOT of glare with HID bulbs. If you go projectors, its going to be the same thing, the lense itself is going to force the HID light to glare out and blind people. it may be so bad that you will get pulled over for it.
With HIDs, the thing you want is a clear lense (like on the aftermarket gen 3, gen 4.5 and gen 5) That will allow the light to just shine right through. Plus you must worry about if the reflectors will work with HIDs, most Halogen reflectors are not, so youd want to look into projectors.
Projectors are basically a little glass lense that focuses and shines all the light through, plus good ones have a very nice cutoff line. Making sure those are alligned are key, cause if its too high, blinding is all your going to be doing.
well, long story short, bad idea to get hids without projectors on the camry- because of the way that the reflectors are designed, you will glare like mad and most likely get pulled over (ekam on this board, along time ago got a nice juicy ticket for his hids)
^ and sorry bud, but you're off by a little bit there
you're correct when you say that the reflectors will wreak havoc on the beam pattern and cause glare, BUT the textured lenses won't affect the HID beams at all if you are using projectors- the beam pattern of HIDs are so condensed that the textured glass won't break them up at all (talk to ony and his projectors/hids befoer he cleared his lenses)
you have a problem when you try to use halogen lights with projectors through textured lenses- the beam pattern/cut off is fine until you put the lenses on, then the textured lenses will break up the beam pattern despite the projectors

hid with out projectors is a no no.
hid with out clear lense takes away alittle from the cut off (i'm here now)
hid with clear lenses is the way to go.
xenon bulbs with a upgraded harnest and relay wount be bad (100w bulbs) i guess

1. Xenons - people commonly mix this with hid due to sellers on ebay keyword spamming. Xenon BULBS are the normal bulbs but they are filled with a xenon gas insead of a vaccume like normal bulbs are. the gas allows the bulb to get hotter and brighter with out burning out, but most come at the cost of a higher current draw.
2.hids - high intensity discharge lighting, it uses a VERY powerfuler charge (20k volts) to turn salts in to xeon gas and light is made from the electric discharge between to points on the bulb though the gas.
3. projectors - are the housing for hid's they have a cut off sheld and then the lens is like a magnafine glass and flps the cut off (sheld is on the bottom) couses a sharp cut off and can keep all the light from a lighting sourse out of the other drivers eyes better than other methods.
4 HIR- hallogen infared reflection it has a special coating on the bulb the reflects the infared light back at the filliment cusing it to get hotter at the same current since it's using already created engergy to get hotter, these are brighter than most all xenon lights i have seen.
5. Bi-Xenon - HID but with the cut off sheld can move to give a high beam effect.
6. Hallogen - your normal tungsing filiment in a vaccume enviroment
anything else?

Well Chronoti, thanks for that information. Let me tell you that it helped more than one person to know the diff. between the different lighting systems.

yeah...when i had the 6000K Xenon it was perfect, it didnt blind anyone....but when i ordered the 10,000K Xenon i always get high beams from oncoming traffic
currently the HaLOGEN Bulbs that i'm using are pretty SH*# CANT SEE ANYTYHING but its so blue
6000k is "okay" but if you're doing HID for its light performance the best light temperature is 4100-4300k
what i was planning on the 95 camry was to do a retrofit of some ds2 ece spec projectors into the stock camry housing.
I proceeded with getting rid of the ripples of the lens..(after baking it open) and i've gotten lazy and stuck there since.. i have nearly everything for the project but doing it right and you'd get the best results..

...and as far as glare.. 5100k might be your best bet without compromising performance/color too much.. though the color will be slightly green/yellow..
**note you see blue/purple on high end cars that come stock with hid but the color temp is still 4100-4300k .. the color you see is due to the design of the projector/projector lens

if you want drop in HID's (without projector housings) get R34 Skyline ones.. therye bloody expensive but theyre made to be nice to other ppl on the road
still need to clear ya lense though.
