3rd Generation Steering Wheel fitment

What other toyota models can I take the steering wheel from? I'm looking for a black wheel and want my airbag, horn, and cruise to keep working.

take it from almost any other toyota, just have to figure out the horn, cruise and bag.
i.e. you may have to also get the clock spring and wire splice. Toughest part is the bag because it feels like dealing with explosives.

you can put a new yota wheel on it, i think you might have to change out the air bag wiring a little, some soldering of sorts

Steering wheel

Yeah just about any Yota wheel will fit. I've considered changing mine too to a Lexus Wood wheel. They're not too expensive, but it's the airbag that will get you. Check to see if the ES300 wood wheel is the same pattern, then you could still use your airbag.

Note on airbag connectors. I've yanked out plenty of bags without disconnecting the battery. Toyota connectors automaticly short together when disconnected to discharge any spark that would set off the airbag. Very smart design. Also you need a long torx bit to reach into the bolt that holds the airbag, one on each side. usually theres a square plastic cover that you need to pop off on the back side of the wheel to access the bolt heads

all toyota oem wheels will fit- but the airbags may not work

you have to remember that your srs system was designed with a single-stage in mind, whereas the new bags are all dual-stage bags

and if anybody's wondering, the celica/corolla/matrix/mr2/rav4 airbag and steering wheel, are different sizes than the gen5 camry se steering wheel and airbag....you cannot use one and the other and put them together....I got both and tried....the SE airbag is bigger than the celi/corolla/etc etc airbag

I ended up selling both of them in the end
