in the gear there's only 1 small Bulb (forgot the size number), on the AC you need to buy SMD lights and you need to solder them to put it on. and for the other 2 im not sure....

I think thats the bulb for the GEAR.

I wish I could order a bunch of these cuz I've replaced the gear light a couple times and it keeps burning out. Anybody know a bulb size or voltage/amperage so i can do my own?

k, so i checked out www.superbrightleds.com which a lot of ppl here ahve recommended. if i got 5 194s for the gauge (one for backup) and 4 74s for gear thing and HVAC console (1 for backup) and total was 17 bucks. cheap. but what about the ignition ring and cigarette lighter ring? ive seen the answer somewhere randomly on here, but i cannot find it now. and since i got blue incandescent bulbs, ill return those and use LEDs since they supposedly never lose color. so...anyone know the answers to my questions???

on my 99 the ignition was a single 74. I would think it would be the same.

and i am assuming you get to the two rings the same way as the HVAC? just take off the panel? i noticed when i changed my deck that the cig light is connected to the ring area when you pull the trim out. i dont know how to get to the ignition ring tho

^yes. In the gen 4 the cig lighter is hard to change. the green color comes from a green plastic insert that is hard to replace. Someone on here has done it though, I don't remember who but they have an all blue/red interior lighting scheme. Do a search and PM them to ask about the lighter ring. Let us know what you find.

ignition ring is a #74. do a search. crawlingeye did a writeup on it with pics.

the cig lighter ring is a bit different, you may need to solder the led directly to the leads...i mean it doesnt have a type 74 socket, its just 2 pins that the light is soldered to. so you desolder the light and solder the led in.

the A/C controls, Cigarette ring, and Ignition ring in the Gen3 should be 74 size bulbs

all this soldering, what is that anyways? like twisting wires together?/ im no electrician. also, when i was referring to the AC controls, i mean the large dials. does it also light up the actual "A/C" button with that little light in it?

Behind the two dials in my 93xle, only one bulb lights that all up. I beive it's a 74. Behind the air conditioning button I think, not sure, that it is an led bulb that has to be taken out with a solder remover because I'm pretty sure it is soldered in place.

Let's say you have two wires that are separated and you need to get them together and you want to solder. You would start by tying the wires togther. Then you would take a soldering iron and heat up a metal called solder and let the solder melt into the wires and when it cools, they're suck tokgether. A good solder job will always be shiny in appearance.
