gauge

i just installed my reverse gauge in my carmy. for some reason the reverse indiglo gauge was in the indiglo package. oh well. when installed it using rayray guide. (thanx rayray) at first i used the green and white wire like he said. but on my test drive when i shirt to drive the lights went out. :o i took it apart and instead used the black wire. then when i took my second test drive i notice something wrong. no needles! :o i couldn't figure it out. then i played with the dimmer suddenly the needles came up. but........ the gauge was gone. so what wire should i use as power? i would like it to power up whenevery my headlights are on. but with needles. help me ouat if anyone ccan.

if you look at the pic below...

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid17/pf40e551c8b24387542aaa52b946866f3/fdfb5736.jpg.orig.jpg

you'll see that i'm using a tester to test the light out. when the light goes on... then there's power running thru the wire. then you trun on/off your headlights to see if the tester does the same. then try your dimmer and see if the tester does the same.

i ended up using the second wire from the top... of the brown plug that goes into the middle part of your gauge cluster. i'm not too sure of the color of the wire... but i think it's green w/ white stripe.

make sure you test the wire while you got it out. then check that all your plugs are in securely and that all your wires are solidly connected.

good luck!

Hey smokey Did u get ur problem fixed.. i got mine working will have pics soon. I used the Green W/ white wire as power, the black one as ground and there's a White w/ green one i left it alone. and now my gauges light up when the headlights go one and turn off when i open my door(gen 4+ feature it think). but if u want contact me on aim and ill help u out. o yeah.. these wire go to the stock dimmer and the power is switched not constant which is good. u can either use the harness behind the gauges(brown harness) or the dimmer harness(3 plug black harness) and it will work flawlessly
