I currently have a 1991 camry V6 and the motor fried. I found another motor but this one does not have the knock sensor on it? Is there a way to make this work somehow? Thanks for any info you have?

take ur old sensor off and put it on the newer block if it's still good, not too hard of a job unless ur a noob at this stuff. You will need a knock sensor in the newer block.

The problem is that the motor I got to replace the bad one does not have a place for it. Is there a way to eliminate it? Thanks

Not all 2vz have knock sensors. Only the USDM motors were equipped with knock sensors. The ones made in 88 and 89 don't have them, but the 90 and 91 models do.

So is it feasible to remove/bypass the knock sensor? What will happen if I just plug it in and zip tie it there?

Your ECU will no longer be able to detect knocking/detonation, which can cause you to blow a hole through your pistons.

dunno about the hole in the piston but ur engine would run quite limp unless u tricked into thinking it was ther by adding an appropriate resistance on the line for the knock sensor...im not sure exactly how the ECU works so that may be a possible solution....

or simply locate an ecu for the engine w/o and knock sensor in it at a junkyard....possibly another solution

When i said "blow a hole in your piston", if you are running an excessive condition, then yes, it can, and will blow a hole....the knock sensor is there to provide detection and prevention of such a problem, i.e. retarding this iginiton advance.

^ suddenly going to WOT and dropping 2 gears, and bouncing off your rev-limiter

if you were running lean as it was, that would at the very least give you some bad rod-knock if your ecu doesn't start dumping fuel in

but back on topic, you can always just use a tap and create a mounting spot for the knocksensor

^^understood, but the only time ud have to worry about that is if u had 5SPD or ur auto transmission gear slips after which it would pretty much be destroyed....been ther, not fun, and VERY costly

didnt really think abou tthat with my knock sensor problem , good thing i have the auto for now
