im thinking of buying a Hood Deflector (called a Bonnet Protector here )
because i drive on the highway almost everyday, and alot of the time i get little rocks and bugs etc hitting my windscreen...
ive already started getting tiny micro chips on my windscreen from the rocks
i dont have a problem with looks of it or anything, so that isnt a problem.
so do you think this protector is worth getting?
and are there any problems associated with having one? (besides looks)
I doubt it, dude. My friend has a bug deflector on his Suburban, and it really doesn't help that much. If a rock jumps up off the highway, the only way that a hood deflector is going to stop it is if its going towards the deflector... the only thing it'll protect is the front of your hood... if a rock is going towards your windshield, it'll hit it. Haha.

Glaring blue HID bulbs are NOT classy, and don't make your car look nice, no matter what that kid in the Civic told you.
It's more to deflect the bugs from hitting your windscreen. The angle of the deflector moves the air upward instead of the normal direction... therefore it should help cut down on bugs on the windscreen.
Mmmm that shield will mostlikely not prevent rocks from hitting your windshield...it'll deflect bugs and take hits from rocks instead of your hood....my gen 4 has so many chips on that part of my hood from darned rocks...and there are these thioings on my windshield that i cant get rid of...probably microchips too!
I would say go for it to save your hood, but dont rely on it to save your windshield.
if you got a chip wher ehte deflector goes, chances are that that same rock will hit ya winshield too.
the deflector is "soft" so it makes the stones bounce away.

its impossible NOT to get hit by a small rock on the highway or infact anywhere on the road. but i think with the Bonnet Protector you can minimised the damage.
No offence but it doesnt look good when you put it on. Why not try the CAR BRA?? (looks even worse than the bonnet protector but it works better.
car bras protect the front of the car, not the windscreen

The bonnet defelctor won't do much to reduce the pitting (tiny micro chips) of the windscreen (called windshield in N. Amer ) . The only way to solve that is to leave more room between you and the offending car in front of you that is kicking up debris.
or overtake and floor it and kick up stone on teh side of his car :P

I've got one and its pretty damn ugly. If I had to do it again I'd just leave it off and get the hood resprayed in a few years.
that would be a sand down and respray, as a respay wont fill in stone chips.
also this is a GLASS PROTECTOR not hood. jeez pplz.
