Gen5 MOD..to Weapon R short ram intake

Hey people for those of you who have an weapon r short ram intake for an 02+ camry v6 listen up. YOU can gain a little horse power. All you need to do is go to autozone and buy some of that accordion like tubing. (WARNING you must take out stuff...unused stuff though )

1.Fist take off the cone filter from the pipe that connects to the throttle body!

2. On the stock intake scoop remove the ducting that runs down towards the bottom of the engine bay, pops right off... takes some finessing..lol. U shaped!

3. Then disconnect the battery...required to run new path...yes it is a bitch!

4. remove the debris catcher! Clear container that sits where the tubing bottoms out...collects bugs! not needed anymore anyways!

5. Then remove the brace that holds and supports that debris catcher...not needed anymore.

6. This creats a clear path way for the new intake line!

7. Now connect one end of the accordion tubing to the pipe that connects to the throttle body, use hose clamps ect.....you know...

8. Then connect the filter to the other end

9. now run the tubing down throught the path created...cone should sit just behind the radiator...where the bumper has those inlets...very tight... might have to push on some stuff to get it down there!

10. Should sit relatively motionless...once in place remove all slack form line....

11. Then reattach the battery

12. Start Car(adjust idle)....Now you must adjust the Idle...requires two people one at engine bay and other in car to give it gas...because car Idles too low now... set new idle

13. Make sure everything is tight

Takes less than 30 min....After driving car with weapon Rs set up I noticed that the pipe that connected to the throttle body was very hot...so hot it would burn skin...so I thought about what I could do. With my set up the pipe is much cooler. You can hold on to it all day long now....thats even after all day driving

Additional steps if wanted

14. Now the cone sits just above the plastic rock guard below the enigne....you can cut a hole in this guard and attach an elbow tube to the outside to increase air flow.(however remember about water and and dirt...this increases the risk of water getting into your intake...dont cross any rivers lol... and increases the changing of the filter! ) You could even get a roof scope and attach it upside down to the rock guard!...

How much HP is gained I don't know... however I have noticed increases in MPG nearly 500 miles to the tank... well about 470

If someone does this mod DYNO their car and tell me LOL

Mod at your own risk
questions PM me

I will post pics if anyone is interested!

So this only works on the 02+ camry? Or would this be possible on a 3vz-fe with an sri?

ive done this before...and it works for all weapon r intakes... it acts like a cold air extension for short rams without the dangers of actual cold air intakes like sucking up water...any filter can do this as long as you get the adapter at pepboys or autozone...good idea though

3rd Generation Weapon R Secret Weapon Intake

I have a gen 3 1995 Camry 5SFE and I did the same thing but I went to auto zone and bought custom bent plastic piping that i specified and had it delivered to the store and after a few adjustmanets i got it to fit. When I went to the dyno with it I gained 12 extra Hp from spending 25 dollars plus 2 hours of work to the car. Mind you that i have a straight pipe exhaust, iriduim plugs, 8mm plug wires, accell distributer cap and rotor, Jet V-Force Fuel/Air Controller and well of course the Secret Weapon Intake. On ocld days (not too many here in florida) like around 50 degrees I probably gain another 2-3hp the ram air really helps when I hit about 90 MPH my camry max's out at 135 before the stupid govenor cuts in over my Jet Chip. Over all it can be done to just about and camry with the right intake and filter and is well worth the chaep amount you put into it.
