3rd Generation Blower Resistor/Coollant Leak

Wondering if anyone has a suggestion for the blower resistor for the climate control?

It's a ceramic piece and i hear its around $50 or so, not 100% sure, from the dealer. I was wondering if there was an alternative for this piece. Cheaper and works well. I was suggested an Inline resistor from a hardware store. But i'm not sure exactly what that is and how to set it up. Or should i just flat out buy the piece from the dealer?

As for my coolant leak. It's leaking on the left hand side and i can see it collecting on the top lip of the oil pan and its dripping off the side. I have brought it to my mechanic twice and they can't see anything. No they haven't taken it appart. I have noticed that if the engine is hot that it doesn't leak and when it's been sitting there for a while it starts to leak. Now i was wondering what is on that side that it might leak from? Or what gasket do i need to replace on that side?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

For the coolant, you have to check the coolant box which is at the passenger side. It has a standard line show on the box. Prepare some distrilled water in the car, if you see the coolant are under the level line, you can fill some in to the box. That's what i usually do on my GNE 3!
